BODY VENTURE AT SGES!!!
CHECK OUT THE SLIDESHOW:
Body Venture
Body Venture, a huge educational walk through the human body, was here on Wednesday, January 27th for all students K-6 to go through. Students from the Rock Creek Leadership class presented at stations and helped lead students through the 13 stations of the body. Beginning at the lunchroom, students received a food card and learned about the food pyramid. They traveled to the brain (in one ear and out the other), then the mouth and on through the stomach and small intestines. Pictured here is the heart presentation. Students then went to the lungs where they saw real lungs that had been damaged by the effects of smoking. They went to stations about bones, muscles and skin, and exited through the pathway of life. Students met the Power Panther, who's moto is EAT SMART, PLAY HARD!! They also voted on whether they wear a helmet while riding their bike. The survey indicated that 180 of our students DO wear a helmet and 161 DO NOT wear a helmet. The Body Venture is sponsored by the KS Dept. of Education, Child Nutrition and Wellness. They have donated two bicycle helmets to give to students. THANK YOU to the many, many parents, teachers and students who helped SET UP, PRESENT and TAKE DOWN the Body Venture. YOU made this a very successful event for our students!!!

About your teacher.........

Ms. Schneider, PE Teacher
I have been teaching P.E. at St. George Elementary for 17 years. I also coach high school volleyball and junior high track at Rock Creek. I love my job because I love working with children of all ages, and see them move, be active, smile, learn new skills, laugh, excel, and push themselves harder than they thought possible. I enjoy staying active too, and try to run or bike several times a week. I also play volleyball and softball in my free time. I enjoy and have run various races: 2 mile, 5k, 10k, 10 mile, 1/2 Marathon and a full Marathon. My son Ryan is an 8th grader at Rock Creek Junior High this year and is very active in sports and school activities.
Well....better run...........
