Baseball/Softball Camp 2012

Head Coach: Chad Herren

Coach Herren will primarily be in charge of the pitchers and hitting. He will also oversee the Junior Varsity squad and help with Coach Johnston. Coach Herren also is the 8th grade boys Basketball coach here at Rock Creek.

Assistant: Jim Johnston

Coach Johnston will primarily be in charge of the infielders/outfielders, assist Coach Herren at the Varsity level and be the Head of the Junior Varsity squad. Coach Johnston is also the Head Basketball coach here at Rock Creek along an assistant on the Cross Country Team.

THE MUSTANGS FINISHED 17-5 in 2011 after achieving one of their main goals of getting the #1 Seed going into regionals falling short after a loss to Riley County. The team returns everyone except for the 2011 3A Player Of The Year in JD Garetson. The team has youth and experience on their side as the quest for the state championship continues...

The Mustang Baseball team want to congratulate Ryan Harshbarger for committing to Longview Community College! We wish him the best of luck through hard work and dedication playing under Coach Culbertson and joining the Lakers!

SPRING BREAK- VARSITY PRACTICE WILL BE HELD MARCH 21ST -24TH, THIS IS A MANDATORY PRACTICE, SO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS ACCORDINGLY.

Bat Information for 2012 Season
Bats with a composite barrel will be illegal for the 2011 season, even if it has the BESR mark on it unless the NFHS has determined the bat meets the ball exit speed ratio and the accelerated break in (ABI) procedure. These two bats have been approved for the 2010-2011 academic year as of August 30, 2010. The DeMarini CF4 (-3) CFB10 and CFB11 with lengths of 31, 32, 33, 34 inches has been approved. The Vendetta C6 (-3) VCB10 and VCB11 with lengths of 31, 32, 33, 34 inches has also been approved. Any additions to this list can be found at nfhs.org.Any bat with a composite barrel will be illegal for the 2011 season, even if it has the BESR mark on it.

Aluminum bats with the BESR mark on them will be legal for the 2011 season provided they have not been altered in any way. Beginning January 1, 2012, bats with the BESR mark will not be legal. All bats used during the 2012 season must have the BBCOR mark on them. Be aware if you buy a bat with the BESR mark on it, you will only be able to use it for one year. This rule change is for safety reasons.

We want to thank Post #186 for supporting and letting us be sponsored by them as we move to Legion Baseball next summer! This give us the opportunity to get in different tournaments and more important play a zone tournament and then on to state. This scenario is more set up like our spring ball situation. We want to continue having 2 teams: Competitive and a 16 and Under team to continue to build a strong program here at Rock Creek.
