Art Dept. has 11 winning artworks at State Scholastic Competition!

January 23, 2012

A big congratulations to the students who had winning artwork for the State Scholastic's Art Competition. The Junior High students were Rachel Askew, Kitrina Miller, & Layne Turnbull.  The high school students were Anastasia Bell, Larissa Eshelman, who won 3 awards, Heather Goodenow, Haley Lenauer, and Brook Lohse.  These students received 4 Silver key medals and 6 Honorable Mentions.

Artwork from all over the state is judged at the Wichita Center for the Arts, to see what will be accepted into the exhibition.  Those winning artworks then hang in the gallery exhibit from Jan. 31st until March 11, 2012.  A massive amount of artwork is sent in to be judged, and the competition is fierce for the few slots allowed for the winning artworks. This is a big honor and I'm very proud of all the students competed, as well as the ones who made it into the competition.    The Gold Key Ceremony will be held in Wichita on February 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. This ceremony is for the awards to be given to the recipients and the public to begin viewing the installation. Congratulations 2012 winners!
