Rock Creek Track Team Sends Record Number To State Track

     The Rock Creek Mustang track team had a very successful 3A Regional track meet at St. Marys last week.  As a result, the Mustangs will be sending a school record 13 members of their track team to Wichita to compete in the 100th Annual State Track and Field meet.
    Leading the way for the Mustangs was Senior standout Harrison Newman, who became the first Rock Creek track athlete to ever qualify in a maximum of 4 events.  Newman, finished 2nd in the 400M Dash and then went on to anchor all 3 boys relays (4x100), (4x400), and (4x800) to state qualifying finishes.   The  qualification of all 3 boys relays was also a first for Rock Creek track.  The 4x100 Relay finished 3rd. Other members of this relay were Sophomore Josh Gee, Sophomore Kyron Case, and Junior Brady Quinn.  The 4x400 Relay also finished 3rd.  Other participants of this relay were Gee, Junior D.J. Denzien, and Senior Spencer Klocke.  The 4x800 Relay finished the highest of the relays with a 2nd place showing. Other members of this relay were, Klocke, Denzien , and Freshman Clayton Frakes. 
    Rock Creek track athletes also qualified in several individual events.  Beside Newman in the 400M Dash, Kyron Case qualified in the 100M Dash with a 4th .  Senior Nolan Fike qualified with a 3rd place showing in the Pole Vault.  D.J. Denzien finished 4th in the Triple Jump to make it to state.  Senior Adam Kibodeaux qualified in the High Jump by placing 2nd.
    Elizabeth Herrs was the only girl athlete to qualify, but did so in two events.  Herrs finished 4th in the Shot Put and was the only REGIONAL CHAMPION for Rock Creek as she threw 136’ 2” to win the Girls Javelin.
