Rock Creek Girls Win 2nd Consecutive Mid-East League Championship

The Rock Creek girls basketball team wrapped up their 2nd consecutive Mid-East Championship by defeating the second place Silver Lake Eagles 53-36 at Rock Creek. The win also marked the 3rd Mid-East League title the Mustangs have won in the last four years.
Rock Creek never trailed in the game as they gradually built up their lead throughout the entire game. Sophomore Lizz Herrs led the way with 16 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Seniors Taylor Ebert and Becky Lightfoot also reached double figures with 14 and 10 points respectively.
Seniors Becky Lightfoot, Taylor Ebert, Ashley Srna, Lora Blackwood, and Becca Snapp were honored after the game during a Senior Night presentation. Head Coach Mike Zabel was also recognized with a plaque given to him by the senior girls commemorating his 300th basketball coaching victory which occurred earlier this year and his 25th year of coaching basketball.
With the win the Mustangs moved their perfect record to 18-0. Rock Creek finishes off the regular season with a game at Mission Valley on Tuesday night and then they return home on Thursday for their final regular season contest of the year against MEL league foe Rossville.
