The October 20 Rock Creek Student Council General Assembly
Meeting was called to order by Mr. Dugan at 10:30 and 2:45 in the
cafeteria.
At the 10:30 meeting, roll was taken and there were 12 members
present. Mr. Dugan announced the location of the suggestion box.
The officer reports were then given. President Josh Camacho shared
a community service idea from Regional Conference. Vice President
TJ Andrade suggested the council sponsor more than one pop-shoot
out this year. Mr. Dugan gave the treasurer’s report, and reported
that the council had a balance of $998.41. The council had a recess
until 2:45.
At the 2:45 meeting, there were 14 members present. Under class
officer reports, Taylor Ebert and Harrison Newman reported that we
need more school spirit. The juniors reported that they are getting
ready for prom. There were no freshman or sophomore reports. Under
club representative reports, BPA representative Jeran Fry reported
that BPA is planning a food drive and just attended conference.
Rachel Lewman FCCLA representative reported that FCCLA will be
sponsoring a text-a-thon. RC Club will be sponsoring monster
volleyball. There were no NHS or Renaissance reports.
Under Advisor reports Mr. Dugan announced meeting attendance is
expected. Mr. Dugan shared some comments from homecoming, which
included: the dance cost too much and students didn’t feel they
should have to pay for food. The council agreed to have more food
at the next dance and to have members bring the food to reduce
cost. Mr. Dugan next announced that student council members will
serve as new student ambassadors during their TA periods, when
needed. The next Executive Officer meeting will be November 6 at
7:30 am. Mr. Dugan also suggested the council sponsor an activity
for Veteran’s Day on November 11. There will be a constitution work
night on November 12 at 6 pm. King and Queen of courts, formerly
winter homecoming will be December 18.
There was no unfinished business.
Under new business, the council discussed activities for a game
night in February. The council also discussed the option of having
a can food drive in conjunction with homecoming voting. This would
require students to bring a can of food or a quarter (which would
be used to purchase a can of food) to cast their final ballot.
The next Executive Officer meeting will be November 6 at 7:30 am.,
and there will be a constitution work night on November 12 at 6
pm.
