BACK TO FOOTBALL FRIDAY

Friday, September 10, show your KC CHIEFS PRIDE by dressing in red or Chiefs attire (for a crazy fan contest).
The 34 schools across the nation that show the most NFL team pride and demonstrate a commitment to health and wellness in their school will be selected as NFL PLAY 60 Super Schools and receive a visit from a real NFL player and a $10,000 NFL PLAY 60 health and wellness grant. We want to be one of those schools!!!
This is an exciting opportunity for our school to use our creativity and rally around the excitement of the NFL. If you are interested in learning more about Back to Football Friday and how you can get involved, please visit NFL.com/backtofootball.

NFL PUNT, PASS, & KICK COMPETITION
Sunday, September 19 at 1:00 at Wamego Baseball Complex (arrive at 12:30 for registration and warm up.) Proof of age required. No cleats, only soft soled shoes.

The event was initially held as a Fun Run for youth. That tradition continues with short runs ranging from 1/4 mile to 2 miles for youth in grades 8 and younger. The youth Fun Runs are organized within the Body First School Fitness Challenge, in which local schools will share $2,000 in prize money based on the participation of its students.

INTRAMURALS
Each year, after school Intramurals are offered for students in grades 4-6 from November through February. The purpose of Intramurals is to teach fundamental skills and work on lead up games and activities to better prepare students for junior high sports. Girls Volleyball begins at the beginning of November, Boys and Girls Basketball is in the months of January and February. A schedule of practices will be available when the season begins, and practices are from 3:30-5:00. Volleyball is held in conjunction with Wamego Parks and Rec, and our teams play in area tournaments. Basketball is not attached to Wamego Parks and Rec, and there are no games or tournaments, only after school practices. All intramurals activities are FREE!! More information will be available as the season approaches.

About your teacher.........

Ms. Schneider, PE Teacher
I have been teaching P.E. at St. George Elementary for 18 years. I also coach high school volleyball and junior high track at Rock Creek. I love my job because I love working with children of all ages, and see them move, be active, smile, learn new skills, laugh, excel, and push themselves harder than they thought possible. I enjoy staying active too, and try to run or bike several times a week. I also play volleyball and softball in my free time. I enjoy and have run various races: 2 mile, 5k, 10k, 10 mile, 1/2 Marathon and a full Marathon. My son Ryan is a 9th grader at Rock Creek High School this year and is very active in sports and school activities.
Well....better run...........
